Discover Walking in Yorkshire

Yorkshire offers an incredible variety of landscapes for walkers, from the valleys and moorlands of the Yorkshire Dales to the rugged coastline of the North York Moors.

My first featured adventure takes us through Nidderdale, where I completed the Yorkshire 100km Challenge in July 2022. More recently, I returned to North Yorkshire for a coastal challenge starting in Scarborough and heading towards Whitby.

This page will continue to grow as I share more of my Yorkshire walking experiences, with routes, practical tips and photographs from the trails.

North Yorkshire Coastal Challenge – When the Heat Won

North Yorkshire Coast | 2026 | 26km completed

A spectacular coastal challenge from Scarborough towards Whitby, following dramatic clifftop paths with breathtaking views across the North Sea.

The plan was to complete 50km, but rising temperatures turned an already demanding walk into a real test of endurance. After 26km, I made the difficult decision to call it a day.

A reminder that even the most experienced walkers sometimes have to listen to their bodies — and that not every adventure needs a finish-line medal to be memorable.
